SCORE Lakes Region is enabled and fulfilled by a group of men and women volunteers dedicated to providing the best possible business advice to aspiring or current entrepreneurs. SCORE, which stands for the Service Corp of Retired Executives has added the tag line, “Counselors to America’s Small Businesses”. To satisfy the SCORE mission, as of this writing, the thirteen members belonging to the Lakes Region group have provided free and confidential business advice to over 300 clients and conducted three workshops since its reestablishment in 2004.
SCORE Lakes Region is currently functioning as a branch of the Mount Washington Valley Chapter. We are structured that way as we continue to rebuild the former Laconia Chapter. The Branch is fortunate to have several community business resource partners: including the Belknap County Economic Development Counciland Southern New Hampshire University, Laconia Campus. We also have a number of special resource partners including: Laconia Savings Bank, The Citizen of Laconia and Dell. These partnerships allow SCORE members to offer their individual knowledge, skills and experience while simultaneously having access to community development information, relying on the latest academic business knowledge and staying abreast of financial lending practices and trends.
SCORE Lakes Region’s current objectives are to continue to provide timely and quality business advice to Lakes Region citizens. We expect to continue to grow the number of new clients by 50% year over year. We are seeking to add six to twelve new counselors, considering opening satellite offices in Wolfeboro and Plymouth, increasing our out-reach through the local media and conduct several workshops to help new business owners and individuals enter or expand their businesses.
